Vegan beauty at The Body Shop
Q. Why do you love shopping at The Body Shop?
‘It’s my safe zone because I know everything I pick up is in alignment with my ethics. I believe there should be more clarity when shopping for vegan, natural and cruelty free products.
The Body Shop has clear labeling, transparent ingredients and natural beauty – it’s what we should be aiming for as an industry.’
Q. Why do you choose vegan and cruelty-free products over regular ones?
‘The biggest difference is the peace of mind. I’ve always been an animal lover, so it’s incredibly important to me that products are tested in a safe environment without pain and suffering involved.’
Q. What are your must-have vegan skincare buys from The Body Shop?
A. ‘Drops of Youth™ Bouncy Eye Mask
, £18, is super fun to use due to its bouncy texture. I just tap the product around the eye bone as tapping helps with drainage and prevents dragging the skin. Tired eyes are transformed and skin is left feeling hydrated and plump.
‘Spa Of The World™ Brazilian Cupuaçu Scrub-in-Oil
, £22, is the most luxurious scrub. It smells amazing – like a Hawaiian dream. The texture is incredible, it’s thick yet melts easily on the skin. And the oil and salt formula leaves my body feeling like a shiny new penny with no need to moisturise after.
‘Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask
, £17, is incredible for ridding my skin of blemishes and blocked pores. Enriched with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tee tree oil, my skin feels immediately clearer. I’d argue the best of its kind on the market!
‘Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil
, £12, takes off all of my make-up in one glorious step. The super silky oil melts into a milk when you add water. I use my hands and splash it off with warm water if I’m pressed for time, or a hot flannel if I want a really thorough cleanse.’
Q. And what about your vegan and cruelty-free make-up favourites?
‘I’m all about snappy, quick impact makeup. I love the Eyeshadows Palette Refills
, £5. At the moment I’m wearing the yellow shade Santiago Citrine a lot. I wear it in its full glory, opaque and all over the eyelid.
‘Instaglow CC Cream SPF 20
, £15, is a firm favourite for a natural make-up look. I use a brush to sweep it over my entire face. It makes skin look beautiful – radiant and real.
‘Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation
, £10, is perfect for extra coverage and all-day wear, plus the aloe in the formula helps keep breakouts at bay.
‘Shine Lip Liquid in Blueberry Chew
, £7 – I love to wear this over lipstick for a fun twist with some of my favourite shades or on its own.
‘I love The Body Shop’s brush range – they are synthetic which means they contain no animal hair, but you still get a really silky application. I use the Eyeshadow Blending Brush
, £9, to apply the Matte Clay Concealer
, £7, which I never leave home without! The blendability is perfect!’
